Wacky Tree Treat

A rich, chocolate-y cake is the base of this colorful — edible — flower garden. All the flower decorations are made from moldable Candy Clay!

Cake serves about 12. Each flower serves 1.

Step 1

Step 1: Make Candy Clay

At least 24 hours in advance of making flowers and decorating cake, make Candy Clay in green and a variety of colors for flowers. Also make 28 oz. Candy Clay to cover cake (cake above is blue Candy Clay). Set aside.

Step 2: Make Flowers

Make Candy Clay Flowers on Lollipop Sticks.

Step 3

Step 3: Bake the Cake

In medium oval pan from set, bake Wacky Cake recipe following recipe instructions. Cool completely. Ice with buttercream icing.

Step 4

Step 4: Decorate the Cake

Roll out 28 oz. Candy Clay approximately 1/8 in. thick to a 30 in. x 4 in. rectangle. Carefully wrap around sides of cake. With remaining matching color Candy Clay, roll a 30 in. long x 1/2 in. diameter log; wrap around top border of cake. Using a variety of flower and butterfly cutters, cut out different colors of Candy Clay; attach cut outs to sides of cake with melted candy.

Step 5: Finish the Cake

Place coconut in resealable plastic bag; add green icing color with toothpick. Knead bag until color is evenly blended; dry on parchment paper. Sprinkle tinted coconut over top of cake. Insert Wacky Tree Treat in top of cake.
