Uncle Sam Cookie Pops

He's an American classic, done with more fun. With his colorful piped cookie dough detail, Uncle Sam proves that decorated cookies can be as exciting as cakes.

Step 1: Make Cookies

Prepare your favorite sugar cookie recipe or use refrigerated cookie dough. Tint a portion of dough skin tone; roll out and cut with boy cookie cutter. Roll out plain dough, draw a hat shape with toothpick and cut with spatula. Roll a small ball of skin tone dough for nose. Position nose and hat on boy cut-out.

Step 2: Decorate Unbaked Cookie

Thin plain cookie dough with water to reach piping consistency; divide in thirds. Tint 1/3 dough white, 1/3 red and 1/3 blue. Using tinted dough, pipe hat detail with tip 4. Using tip 3, pipe in clothing and hat band. Add tip 2 pipe-in beard, string mouth and dot eyes. Bake and cool cookies following recipe directions. While still hot, insert flag pick in hand and cool.

Step 3: Assemble Cookie Pops

Attach cookie treat stick to back of cookie with melted candy. If desired, arrange cookie pops in a container or place on serving plate.
