See just how versatile the shell technique can be when different tips are used. Dainty shells are created for top and bottom borders and the bold, beautifully blossoming flower on cake top is created with a large star tip.

Step 1

Step 1: Prepare Cake

Bake your favorite 2-layer cake recipe or mix in 9 in. petal pan. Cool cake in pan on wire rack 10 minutes. Remove from pan and cool completely. Place on foil-wrapped cake circle. Position cake on board onto turntable. Spatula ice cake smooth with yellow buttercream icing

Step 2

Step 2: Decorate Cake

Decorate tip 17 shell top and bottom borders in peach buttercream. For top flower, decorate tip 4B elongated shell petals in peach, beginning 1 1/2 in. from edge of cake and ending in the center. Add tip 4B rosette flower center.
