Hallows Eve Cake

Whipped icing made from a mix adds an iridescent, vibrant color to this cake. The shorter, triangular decorating comb makes the top design easy to do. Change up the colors for use at other holidays!

Step 1

Step 1: Bake The Cake

Bake and cool your favorite 2-layer cake recipe or mix in 10 in. square baking pans. Stack cooled cake layers on foil-wrapped cake board.

Step 2

Step 2: Ice the Cake

Prepared whipped icing mix following package directions. Tint portions orange, violet and black. Spatula ice cake with orange icing. Divide cake top into thirds; spatula ice each third with a thick layer of orange, violet or black icing. With toothpick, mark cake top into 5 sections running perpendicular to lines of colored icing.

Step 3

Step 3: Decorate The Cake

Using triangle comb, comb icing using alternating diagonal lines to form diamond or square shapes. Add tip 22 orange icing shell bottom border. Add tip 18 shell top border, matching the icing colors around the cake.
