Candy Clay Flowers

Part wacky, part real, these edible flowers add wow to any treat they're a part of. Marshmallows or molded peanut butter cups form the base; boldly colored, easy to work with Candy Clay creates the petals and leaves.

Each flower serves 1.


Step 1

Step 1: In Advance, Make Candy Clay

At least 24 hours in advance of making flowers, make Candy Clay in green and a variety of flower colors. Set aside.

Step 2

Step 2: Make Red Rose

Dip end of lollipop stick in melted red Candy Melts candy; insert into marshmallow and let set. Dip entire marshmallow in melted red candy; sprinkle top with ruby Pearlized Sugar.

Roll out red Candy Clay. Cut rose petals with both small and large rose cutters. Place petals on thin foam and use ball tool to thin and lightly ruffle edge. Attach to marshmallow with dots of melted candy. Let set.

Form small piece of green Candy Clay into cone-shaped flower base and thread onto lollipop stick; attach below rose with dots of melted green Candy Melts candy. Roll out green Candy Clay; cut out calyx. Thread onto lollipop stick below candy base; attach with melted candy. Wrap additional green Candy Clay around lollipop stick for stem.

Step 3

Step 3: Make Gerbera Daisy

Dip end of lollipop stick in melted light cocoa Candy Melts candy; insert into marshmallow and let set. Dip entire marshmallow into melted light cocoa Candy Melts candy; sprinkle with Chocolate Jimmies and let set. Roll out pink Candy Clay; using daisy cutters, cut 2 medium and 2 large shapes for each flower. Cut hole in center of daisy cutouts; thread onto lollipop stick up to marshmallow. Attach to marshmallow with dots of melted candy; support petals with aluminum foil, if needed, until dry.

Form small piece of green Candy Clay into cone-shaped flower base and thread onto lollipop stick; attach with dots of melted green Candy Melts candy. Roll out green Candy Clay; cut out calyx. Thread onto lollipop stick below candy base; attach with melted candy. Wrap additional green Candy Clay around lollipop stick for stem.

Step 4

Step 4: Make Pink Tulip

Dip end of lollipop stick in melted light cocoa Candy Melts candy; insert into marshmallow and let set. Dip entire marshmallow into melted light cocoa Candy Melts; sprinkle with chopped pecans and let set.

Roll out pink Candy Clay; cut 8 pink petals using narrow lily cutter (or 6 petals with wide lily cutter). Attach to marshmallow with melted candy; gently curl back tops of petals.

Form small piece of green Candy Clay into cone-shaped flower base and thread onto lollipop stick; attach with dots of melted green Candy Melts candy. Roll out green Candy Clay; cut out calyx. Thread onto lollipop stick below candy base; attach with melted candy. Wrap additional green Candy Clay around lollipop stick for stem.

Step 5

Step 5: Make Daffodil

Dip end of lollipop stick in melted orange Candy Melts candy; insert into marshmallow and let set. Dip entire marshmallow into melted orange candy; dip or sprinkle top with orange nonpareils. Let set.

Roll out yellow Candy Clay; cut 6 petals using narrow orchid cutter. Place on thin foam and using veining tool, add lines to petals. Attach to marshmallow with melted orange candy; gently curl back tops of petals.

Form small piece of green Candy Clay into cone-shaped flower base and thread onto lollipop stick; attach with dots of melted green Candy Melts candy. Roll out green Candy Clay; cut out calyx. Thread onto lollipop stick below candy base; attach with melted candy. Wrap additional green Candy Clay around lollipop stick for stem.

Step 6

Step 6: Purple Blossoms

Dip end of lollipop stick in melted green Candy Melts candy; insert into marshmallow and let set. Dip entire marshmallow into melted green candy; sprinkle with emerald Pearlized Sugar. Let set.

Roll out lavender Candy Clay; make lavender flowers using small and medium blossom ejectors and Ejector Impression Strip from set. Attach to marshmallow with dots of melted green candy. Attach Sugar Pearls to blossom centers with dots of melted lavender Candy Melts candy.

Form small piece of green Candy Clay into cone-shaped flower base and thread onto lollipop stick; attach with dots of melted green Candy Melts candy. Roll out green Candy Clay; cut out calyx. Thread onto lollipop stick below candy base; attach with melted candy. Wrap additional green Candy Clay around lollipop stick for stem.

Step 7

Step 7: Large Purple Blosssom

To create flower base, melt lavender and pink Candy Melts candy; darken lavender candy with violet Candy Color. Layer in peanut butter cup candy mold, refrigerating between each color layer until set, starting with lavender, then pink followed by another layer of lavender. Refrigerate until firm. Unmold. Attach to lollipop stick with melted green candy; let set

Roll out green Candy Clay; cut out calyx. Thread onto lollipop stick below candy base; attach with melted candy. Wrap additional green Candy Clay around lollipop stick for stem.

Roll out lavender Candy Clay; cut lavender flower using medium flower fondant Cut-Out. Place on foam and use ball tool to cup. Roll 1 in. yellow Candy Clay ball; flatten and attach to flower.

Step 8

Step 8: Yellow Blossoms

To create flower base, melt orange and yellow Candy Melts candy. Layer in peanut butter cup candy mold, refrigerating between each color layer until set, starting with orange, then yellow, followed by another layer of orange. Refrigerate until firm. Unmold. Attach to lollipop stick with melted green candy; let set.

Roll out green Candy Clay; cut out calyx. Thread onto lollipop stick below candy base; attach with melted candy. Wrap additional green Candy Clay around lollipop stick for stem.

Roll out yellow Candy Clay; make flowers using large blossom ejector and Ejector Impression Strip from set. Roll 1/8 in. balls or orange Candy Clay; flatten and attach to flower centers with melted candy. Attach flowers to candy base with dots of melted candy.

Step 9

Step 9: Fantasy Sunflower

To create flower base, melt yellow, orange and light cocoa Candy Melts candy. Layer in peanut butter cup candy mold, refrigerating between each color layer until set, starting with yellow, then orange and followed by dark cocoa. Refrigerate until firm. Unmold.

Roll out yellow Candy Clay; cut out 2 yellow flowers using medium daisy cutter. Attach flowers to each other, offsetting petals, with melted candy; attach molded candy to center of flower. Attach to lollipop stick with melted green candy; let set.

Roll out green Candy Clay; cut out calyx. Thread onto lollipop stick below flower base; attach with melted candy. Wrap additional green Candy Clay around lollipop stick for stem.

Step 10

Step 10: Light Pink Blossom

To create flower base, melt white, lavender and pink Candy Melts candy. Layer in peanut butter cup candy mold, refrigerating between each color layer until set, starting with white, then lavender and followed by pink. Refrigerate until firm. Unmold.

Roll out pink Candy Clay; cut out flower using small rose petal cutter. Place petals on foam and use ball tool to cup petals and lightly thin edges. Attach petals to bottom of molded candy with melted candy; attach molded candy to center of flower. Attach to lollipop stick with melted green candy; let set.

Roll out lavender Candy Clay; cut butterfly with mini cutter. Attach to top of molded candy with melted pink candy; pipe body with melted candy.

Roll out green Candy Clay; cut out calyx. Thread onto lollipop stick below flower base; attach with melted candy. Wrap additional green Candy Clay around lollipop stick for stem.

Step 11

Step 11: Orange Blossom

To create flower base, melt red, orange and white Candy Melts candy. Layer in peanut butter cup candy mold, refrigerating between each color layer until set, starting with red, then orange, followed by white. Refrigerate until firm. Unmold. Attach to lollipop stick, wide end up, with melted green candy; let set.

Roll out green Candy Clay; cut out calyx. Thread onto lollipop stick below candy base; attach with melted candy. Wrap additional green Candy Clay around lollipop stick for stem.

Roll out orange Candy Clay; cut petals using small oval fondant Cut-Out. Place on foam and use ball tool to cup. With fingers, form ends of petals into points. Attach petals to candy base with melted candy. Roll 1/4 in. yellow Candy Clay ball; flatten and attach to flower.
