Bear Hugs for Baby

A shower cake doesn´t get more adorable than this--or any easier to decorate! Rolled fondant is the key. Just cover your iced cake with pink fondant, then add quilted detail with the Cutter/Embosser. With cute candies in baby shapes all around, it´s a great way to welcome baby–and your guests.

Serves 25.

Step 1

Step 1: Melt Candy

Melt Candy Melts following package instructions.  Tint portion of white candy pink using candy color.

Step 2

Step 2: Mold Candies

Fill molds with melted candy.  Gently tap mold on counter.  Refrigerate until firm.  Unmold.

Step 3

Step 3: Prepare cake

Bake and cool your favorite 2-layer cake.  Position cake on foil-covered cake board.  Lightly ice in buttercream icing to prepare for fondant covering.

Step 4

Step 4: Cover cake with fondant

Tint 4 oz. fondant yellow; tint remainder rose.  Roll out rose fondant 1/16-in. thick. Cover cake with rose fondant; smooth.  Score quilt squares 2 in. apart using ridged wheel of Cutter/Embosser.  Pipe a tip 4 buttercream dot at each intersecting quilt line.

Step 5: Decorate

Roll out yellow fondant 1/8 in. thick; cut bear using cutter.  Pipe tip 4 buttercream dot muzzle and eyes. Pipe other features and bow using tip 2. Position bear. Print tip 4 message. Pipe tip 21 star bottom border; position candies on border.
