Bake your favorite 2-layer cake recipe or mix in 9-inch round baking pan. Cool cake in pan on wire rack 10 minutes. Remove from pan and cool completely. Wrap cake board with fanci-foil; arrange cake on prepared board. Spatula ice cake top and sides smooth with thin layer of buttercream.
Roll a 1 in. ball of green fondant and combine with 24 oz. white fondant; roll out 1/8 in. thick. Cover cake; smooth. Using light green fondant scraps, roll two ropes 1/4 in. thick; twist ropes together and position for bottom border.
Roll out red fondant 1/8 in. thick. Cut small and large apples using cutters. Shape dark green fondant into a stem and leaf for each apple; attach with damp brush. Brush large apple with water; sprinkle with red sugar. Attach apples to cake with damp brush.
