3D Dinosaur Cake

This friendly dinosaur will be the hit of any party! No one will guess he started out life as a bear cake. We've added an edible tail and arms. While the decorating looks complicated, this mix of icing stars and Candy Melt candy spikes is really easy to do.

Step 1

Step 1: Bake Cakes

Bake Coconut Pound Cake recipe in 3D Bear Pan and Mini Wonder Mold pan following recipe instructions. Cool following recipe and pan label instructions.

Step 2: Make Candy Spikes and Toenails

Melt Candy Melts following package instructions in disposable decorating bags. Tape pattern on cake board; cover with waxed paper. Pipe melted candy over patterns; refrigerate until set. Carefully remove candy from waxed paper.

Step 3

Step 3: Assemble Dinosaur

Trim ears from bear cake; attach cake to cake base with icing. Cut Mini Wonder Mold cake in half; attach to back of cake with buttercream icing. Attach large marshmallows with icing OR shape tail with rice cereal crispy treat, gradually tapering to a pointed tail.

Step 4

Step 4: Decorate the Dinosaur

Cover tail area gaps and build up face and arms with tip 12 in green buttercream. Add tip 4 black icing dot nostrils and outline mouth. Pipe stripes and body dots with tip 18 stars. Cover remaining cake with tip 18 green icing stars. Add white Candy Melt Candy eyes; add blue melted candy pupil. Insert candy spikes and toenails into icing.
