How do I transport cookies that have iced decorations?

Barbara - from Akron, OH

If the cookies are decorated with buttercream icing, they should be placed on a flat surface and not stacked. Carefully cover with plastic wrap or foil. If using cookie icing that will dry hard to the touch, be sure the icing has dried completely before stacking. Royal icing also dries hard, so the cookies can be stacked. Make sure your cookie is a firmer cookie, like a roll-out, or cut-out, cookie, that won't crumble while being moved. Shortbread cookies, for example, crush easily and would need extra cushioning and care if you plan to move them from one location to another.
