Would you use cream cheese frosting for a basketweave decoration?

shoko - from mexico , mexico

The basketweave technique is a fun way to decorate your cakes, creating the illusion of a basket.  You could certainly use cream cheese frosting, as long as the consistency is correct.  Basketweave, requires a medium consistency icing so be sure that your cream cheese frosting is not too thin and not to thick or you will not acheive the desired effect.

If your frosting is too thin to hold the basketweave design, add some more confectioners' sugar 1 tablespoon at a time.  If your frosting turns out a little too stiff, you can thin it out by adding some more milk 1 teaspoon at a time. Cream cheese icing also firms up when it is refrigerated, so you can chill it slightly before piping. Just remember that it should be kept chilled to serve, too.
