Can I bake a cake from a boxed mix in a springform pan?

Sonia - from Louisville, KY

We do not recommend using springform pans to bake cakes, as most cake batters made from a mix are too thin and will leak out of the pan. Some "made from scratch" recipes have a batter thick enough so that it doesn't leak, but even those we'd advise placing aluminum foil around the bottom and a little up the sides of the springform pan before baking.
