If I can’t get around to decorating a cake, can I store it in the freezer? If yes, what’s the best way to do this?

Isela - from Mexico City, Mexico

Yes, cake layers that aren’t decorated can be frozen before decorating. Make sure to wrap them airtight in plastic wrap, freezer paper or aluminum foil. They can then be store for up to 3 months. When you are ready to decorate your cake, make sure the layers are completely defrosted before you start. When defrosting, keep the wrapping on the cake layers so that any moisture that develops is on the wrapping, not the cake layer.
