I’m making a red velvet cake from Duncan Hines. I need to make it firmer to hold up under fondant. Is there something I can add to the mix to firm it up?

It’s easy to firm up your Red Velvet cake mix. Have you ever noticed the pound cake variation on the side of Duncan Hines Yellow and Devil’s Food Cake Mix? By adding a pudding mix and an extra egg and decreasing the liquid, your Red Velvet cake will take on a denser texture that will stand up to fondant and still be moist and delicious! Here’s your ingredient list:
• 1 Package Duncan Hines® Moist Deluxe® Red Velvet Cake Mix
• 1 Package (4 serving size) vanilla instant pudding and pie filling mix
• 4 large eggs
• 1 cup water
• 1/3 cup vegetable oil
