Why do you sometimes get an unappetizing taste from using red icing color?

The best way to not get a bitter taste from red icing color is to use Wilton No-Taste Red. This red icing color was designed so you can add as much as you need to reach the perfect red without any unappetizing taste. If you are just using a small amount, to make a light red or pink, you can use Red-Red or Christmas Red and still have a great tasting icing.
