How long should I beat the eggs after putting the last egg into the cake mix? Is 5 minutes too long?

When adding the eggs to a cake batter it is important to add them one at a time, then beat until each egg is completely mixed into the batter. Once the final egg is added and incorporated, continue with the rest of the recipe. Five minutes is probably too long for mixing after putting the last egg into the batter. Overbeating the eggs can create a hard, sugary crust on your cake.
