Can I ice my cake with whipped cream before covering with fondant?

Whipped cream is not a good icing base for fondant. The weight of the fondant will deflate the whipped cream, and any cake iced with whipped cream needs to be refrigerated until served. It is not recommended to refrigerate fondant-covered cake. It's best to use a thin layer of white buttercream icing or an apricot glaze.
