I sometimes like to use a simple syrup mixture to moisten cakes, but I'm not sure how much to use. Can you help?

RiRi - from Northwest, IN

It's impossible to give an exact amount of syrup to place onto your cakes, as it depends on the type of cake as well as the recipe used. The best advice I can give is to brush, not pour the syrup. This allows you to see how quickly the cake absorbs the liquid. When it doesn't absorb into the surface, it's time to stop!
