There are two different products that will produce the same “see-through” look on top of either a buttercream or fondant iced cake. The most convenient is the Wilton Tube Decorating Gels – ready-colored gels in small tubes. Simply snip off the tip and squeeze where you want the color. You are, however, limited to the 12 colors available. For a wider color palette choice, you can color clear Piping Gel any color you need or want. Simply stir gel icing colors into the clear gel.
