There are a few icing recipes that after drying are hard. Using the Quick Pour Fondant Icing recipe will add a smooth, semi-hard finish to your cakes. If you are looking for an icing for making hard decorations, you will want to use Royal Icing. This is not a good icing to use directly on cakes or cupcakes, but can be placed directly onto cookies, as well as making decorations.
