Can you substitute brown sugar for granulated white sugar? Do you substitute equal amounts or is there a certain ratio that is recommended?

Yes, you can substitute brown sugar for granulated white sugar. You substitute brown sugar for white sugar in equal measures, however, the brown sugar should be firmly packed into the measuring cup when you are measuring.
