Our favorite way to use leftover cake is in a trifle – a mixture of cake, custard, fruit, liqueur or fruit syrup and cream. All the ingredients are combined – either in a large clear serving bowl or in individual dessert cups, and allowed to chill overnight – this allows all the flavors and ingredients to combine nicely. A simpler variation of this is to layer your favorite flavor of pudding with layers of cut up cake. Another favorite way we use leftover cake is to serve it as a base for scoops of ice cream or sherbet.
