Perimeters of pans always tend to bake faster than the center due to heat conduction between the pan and the cake edges; the trick is to get the center baked before the edges burn! Ovens do vary so I would recommend using an oven thermometer (even for a new oven!) to check the temperature accuracy of your ovens. Also glass pans get hotter than metal pans. When baking with glass, reduce the oven temperature 25 degrees from the temperature indicated on the recipe. That should help!
