I am planning to do a cake for my sister's baby shower. I really want to do a lady bug cake to match her invitations and everything else using fondant but have never used that before. Any tips?

What a great sister! Fondant is a perfect medium for novice decorators…if you've ever worked with modeling clay, you can work with fondant. For many tips on working with fondant, check out the techniques section of this website! If you plan to color the icing yourself, remember that red requires a lot of icing color to achieve. Make sure to use "No Taste" Red to avoid bitterness.
