How do I place a shaped cake on top of a round cake to ensure it does not fall off?

Place the shaped cake on a cake board cut to the exact size and shape of the cake and decorate it. For the bottom round cake, insert enough dowel rods to support the shaped cake – make sure you place them so that all parts of the cake are supported by a rod. Then decorate the round cake. Carefully place the shaped cake onto the round cake layer.
